Library Card

GETTING A LIBRARY CARD

We welcome everyone to use our computers and Wi-Fi, enjoy our facilities, and attend library events. However, a valid Spencer County Public Library card is required in order to borrow our materials.

Cards can be obtained at the circulation desk. The applicant must be present and complete a brief application form. Applicants or their parent/guardian must show an approved form of identification.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR A LIBRARY CARD?

All residents and anyone who owns land, works, or has children who attend school in Spencer County are eligible for a Spencer County Public Library card free of charge. Proof of address and a valid photo ID are required.

Temporary residents who wish to use the library are required to pay a yearly fee of $25.00 per person or $50.00 for a family to obtain a library card. The fee is a contribution to the library in place of paying taxes. A photo ID and proof of address, both temporary and permanent, are required. US Military Personnel will not be charged the temporary residents’ fee for cards.

Alternatively, eligible individuals may apply for a Digital-Only account online.

See the full Circulation Policy for complete borrowing details on Borrowing Periods, Renewals, Fines, Fees, Reserves, and Inter-Library Loan.
